Q. What is a difference between interpretation and translation? |
A. An interpretation refers to a verbal conversion of speech to another language, whereas translation is a conversion of written media into a written media in another language (text). |
Q. What is simultaneous interpretation? |
A. An interpretation mode when an interpreter conveys information in real-time. This is the most effective way of interpretation since the person who's speech is being interpreted does not have to pause after a few sentences, preserving continuous flow of information. |
Q. Why is it necessary to use special equipment for simultaneous interpretation? |
A. An interpreter speaks at the same time as he or she listens to the presenter. Without special equipment they would simply interfere with each other, making it impossible to understand what either party said. Imagine a meeting where several people speak simultaneously trying to overcome each other. |
Q. Why should I use simultaneous interpreter; Isn't more expensive than consecutive? |
A. If you look at the big picture it is less expensive. Imagine that a large international conference has to last twice as long just because half the time is wasted waiting for interpreter to conduct interpretation. Another reason is that at any conference there are only some people that require services of an interpreter. If you use a consecutive interpreter, the rest of the audience have to listen to interpretation they don't actually need. There are, however, occasions where services of a consecutive interpreter are more appropriate. These may include business negotiations or meetings with a small number of participants. |
Q. Can you provide local interpreters? |
A. Our network of interpreters includes members located all over United States as well as overseas. Whenever possible we utilize services of our local member interpreters. In the event that a local interpreter is not available we will, at your discretion, find an interpreter that is closest to your desired location or one that can travel there with a least expense. |
Q. Why do I need a professional interpreter? There are Russian-speaking students at my school. Can't they translate for me? |
|
Q. What are your rates? |
Our rates are highly competitive. Since you contract directly with your Russian interpreter you can typically save 30% to 50% over what other agencies charge. We believe we have the best combination of price and quality. You can get detailed rate information by clicking here. |
Q. How do I pay for your services? |
A. You can make a payment by credit card by following this link. We also accept checks and, of course, cash |
Q. What about confidentiality of my information? |
A. Protecting your information is a very high priority for us. We will never knowingly disclose information received by us in the course of our business to third parties without your permission. If you request, we will remove your name (your company name) from the list of clients displayed on this site. In addition, any of our interpreters, at your request, will sign a confidential disclosure agreement prior to start of the assignment. |
Q. Are your interpreters available to travel? |
A. Yes, we provide our services worldwide and will travel to desired location. All of our U.S. based interpreters have necessary documentation to work in the United States. |
Q. What if I need an interpreter for only a few hours? |
A. No problem, but as a rule, we charge for a minimum of 4 hours for local assignments, 2 days for domestic out-of-town assignments, and 4 days for international assignments. In addition, an interpreter may request a reimbursement for driving and travel time. |
