Russian Interpreters Network ("RIN", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.russian-interpreter.org or www.russiansite.net (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. The Site is an informational website with no user accounts, no online store and no message boards.
1. Information you give us
When you contact us through the form on the Site, by email or by telephone, we receive whatever you choose to share: typically your name, organization, email address, telephone number, and details of the assignment you are asking about. The contact form on the Site does not store anything on our server; it opens a message in your own email program, which you then send to us. We keep that correspondence for as long as needed to respond to you, prepare a quote and, if you become a client, perform and document the engagement.
2. Information collected automatically
Like every website, the Site is served by a web server that keeps standard access logs: the IP address of the visitor, the date and time, the pages requested, the browser type and the referring page. These logs are kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting and are not used to identify individual visitors. The Site itself sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics trackers.
3. Embedded video
A few blog pages embed videos from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set cookies until you start playback. If you play a video, YouTube (Google) may collect information in accordance with its own privacy policy.
4. How we use your information
We use the information you give us only to respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes, deliver the services you order, invoice and collect payment, and keep the records that the law and our professional obligations require. We do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
5. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only as needed to perform an engagement, for example with the interpreter or translator assigned to your project, who is bound by confidentiality; with service providers such as our hosting and email providers, who process it on our behalf; and where required by law or to protect our legal rights.
6. Confidentiality of assignment materials
Documents and information entrusted to us for interpretation or translation are treated as confidential, are used only to perform the assignment, and are shared only with the linguists working on it. We are glad to sign a non-disclosure agreement on request. Please note that ordinary email is not an encrypted channel; for sensitive material we will agree on a secure method of transfer with you.
7. Security
The Site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
You may ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Write to the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to keep certain records, such as invoices, for as long as the law requires.
9. Children
The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Visitors from outside the United States
We are located in the United States, and information you send us is processed and stored here. By contacting us you consent to that transfer.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, is always available on this page.
