A research paper translated by someone who does not understand the research reads like one, and reviewers notice. Translation of scientific texts is billed per English word, from 15 to 25 cents depending on the field, with a $100 minimum; editing of a paper already written in English by a Russian-speaking author, to bring it to the standard a journal expects, is $50 per hour.
