Sometimes you do not need an interpreter beside you; you need someone to pick up the telephone and get the thing done. A supplier in Ohio is not answering emails. An insurance company needs a claim explained. A hospital's billing department has a question only you can answer, but only in English. A hotel has lost a reservation, an airline has lost a bag, a government office wants to confirm an appointment. We make these calls for Russian-speaking clients every week.
It works in one of two ways. In a three-way call, you are on the line with us and the other party, and we interpret in both directions as the conversation goes; this is the right choice when decisions have to be made on the spot. Alternatively, you brief us, we place the call on your behalf, handle the conversation in English, and report back to you in Russian with the result and any follow-up needed; this is the right choice when you simply want the matter settled and do not need to be on the line. Either way, we will tell you exactly what was said, and we will send a short written summary afterwards if you ask for one.
Telephone interpretation is billed at $2.39 per minute in twenty-minute increments, with a twenty-minute minimum, and can usually be arranged the same day. For calls that need to be placed at a particular time, for instance to an office that opens at nine Eastern, tell us the window and we will be ready. Send us the number, the purpose of the call and what outcome you are after, and leave the rest to us.
