Broadcast work has rules of its own. The interpreter is heard by an audience that never sees the speaker's face, there is no second take on live television, and a voice that sounds hesitant or flat makes an articulate guest sound dull. Our interpreters have worked live interviews, press conferences, satellite link-ups and talk-show appearances for American and Russian-language channels, and several of them have the trained voice and microphone discipline that producers expect from a voice-over artist, not just a linguist.
We provide simultaneous interpretation for live broadcasts and press events, consecutive interpretation for recorded interviews where the editor wants clean, separable segments, and voice-over for documentaries and corporate films. For a press conference we can also supply the receivers and headsets for the journalists in the room, and for a studio production we will work with your sound engineer on the feed so that the interpreter's voice sits where the mix needs it. One of our core team members is a professional voiceover specialist with his own studio, which comes in handy when a project needs a recorded Russian track rather than a live one.
Media work often comes with no notice at all. A guest lands in the morning and the interview is at noon. We will do our best with whatever time there is, but if you can send the questions, the guest's background and the name of the program in advance, the result on air will be noticeably better.
Producers and correspondents: tell us the format, the date and whether the work is live or recorded, and we will have an interpreter ready.
